Billy Madewell IVPlay-By-Play Radio Broadcaster
Billy Madewell returns to the booth as The Voice of the Pittsfield Suns for the 2018 season. Madewell, who has been the play-by-play radio broadcaster since the Suns inception in 2012, is going into his eighth season as a broadcaster at Wahconah Park. In 2011, he was the color commentator for the Pittsfield Colonials of the CAN-AM league. He also called a playoff game for the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2017. Madewell was the first play-by-play broadcaster in the FCBL's history to call a road game, playoff game on the road, as well as every FCBL All-Star Game since 2013 when the Suns hosted the event. He is also the longest tenured broadcaster in the FCBL.
Madewell, a 2011 graduate of Taconic High School, started his broadcasting career as a high school junior at WTBR-FM, formerly located inside Taconic High School. Learning every aspect of the radio station, he was named program director as a student in less than a month at WTBR. Madewell currently holds 2 records at WTBR: the longest continuous show operated by one student at a time of eight hours and thirty minutes and he scheduled the longest continuous remote broadcast at Berkshire County Central/South's Relay for Life at Onota Lake in Pittsfield in 2010, a feat Madewell duplicated the following year in 2011.
Madewell can be heard throughout Berkshire County, as he has been with WBEC-FM in Pittsfield since 2012 and a fill in voice at WSBS-AM/FM in Great Barrington since 2014. When not in the broadcast booth, Madewell is also a production consultant and referee at Truly Independent Wrestling. His favorite professional sports teams are the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and the New York Yankees.
