The Pittsfield Suns will be recruiting this week, but not for power hitters and pitching prospects. No, the Suns are looking for the other important members of the team, like concessions, ticket, and promo employees.
The Suns will host a job fair on Saturday to hire game staff for the team’s eighth season at Wahconah Park. The team will be looking for fun-loving and enthusiastic people to join the staff of game-day employees for the summer.
“Fans come to Suns games not just for great baseball, but also to enjoy the family-fun environment,” said general manager Michael Lieberman. “It’s our employees who create that atmosphere, and it’s our employees who help make a Suns game so special.”
Lieberman explained that this season will be even more special than most.
“Wahconah Park, our historic home stadium, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this summer. Plus, we’ll be hosting the Futures League All-Star Game on July 16. Combine that with our lineup of fireworks, giveaways, and theme nights, and it’s going to be a summer to remember.”
The job fair will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 11 AM to 5 PM. It will be held at Wahconah Park, located at 105 Wahconah Street in Pittsfield.
Attendees can apply for many of the positions they see on a typical game night: ticket office, concessions stand, the fun team… maybe even the mascot!
“No matter where you work in the ballpark, this experience is different from your typical summer job,” said Lieberman. “Fans come to Wahconah Park to have fun, and that excitement extends to every corner of the ballpark, including employees.”
Lieberman emphasized that working for the Suns is a perfect fit for so many people. “This can be a great first job or an excellent secondary job to put a little money in your pocket,” he said. “Our schedule even fits well for people with the summer off, like teachers.”
Applicants can visit the job fair to learn about the different positions available and to complete an application. Interviews will be conducted on-site, so applicants are encouraged to dress accordingly. Applicants must be at least 16 years old to be hired.
The Suns season kicks off on Thursday, May 30, when the Bristol Blues visit Pittsfield. The game will be followed by the first fireworks spectacular of the summer. The complete Suns schedule can be found here.
