The Pittsfield Suns (8-0) continue to be a force to be reckoned with, defeating the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (2-5-1-0) by a score of 5-1.
The Suns scored early in the second. Following a one out triple from debuting right fielder Jacob Westerman, he scored when Zach Ardito reached on by an error by the shortstop Kyle Pangallo. Kyle Beaulieu hit a single into right. Zach Tower misread the ball and allowed Ardito to score on the error. The Suns got more runs in the third with an RBI double by Alex Parkos and an RBI single by Jacob Westerman. Scott Holzwasser added in on the fray with a solo smash into left-center field.
The Dirt Dawgs tried to mount a comeback in the 8th with Jack Gethings getting an RBI single. The Dirt Dawgs then got the bases loaded with the tying run at home plate, but just as Jensen Lewis got in the jam, he shut it down with Alex Carusotto closing it out in the ninth.
Cal Slepkow (2-0) got the win pitching six innings with no runs, four hits, and two strikeouts, good for a quality start. Edward Baram (0-1) was given the loss after going four and two third innings with five runs, four earned, seven hits, including giving up the cycle.
The Elser Animal Control Pest Player of the Game went to Scott Holzwasser, who went 2-4 with a solo home run.
