Billy Madewell IV
Director of Broadcasting and Media RelationsE-mail:
Billy Madewell returns to the Pittsfield Suns broadcast team for his tenth season as the voice of the Pittsfield Suns. 2022 is Madewell's first season as Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations. He also previously served as color commentator for the Pittsfield Colonials back in 2011.
Madewell is a 2011 graduate of Taconic High School and has been involved in broadcasting and athletics since entering high school. After a sports injury ended his playing career, he became the youngest program director for 89.7 WTBR-FM in Pittsfield in its history at THS as a junior and senior at Taconic High School from 2009 to 2011. At WTBR, he was in charge of scheduling, creating show concepts, and implementing WTBR into the local Relay for Life in Pittsfield for 2010 and 2011. Madewell has been the longest-tenured broadcaster in the FCBL, calling Pittsfield Suns games full time since the inception of the team in 2012. He has also broadcasted every FCBL All-Star Game from 2013 to 2019.
Madewell takes a secondary role with the Futures League as the Scorekeeping Administrator, which entails auditing game sheets, correcting stats, and serving as the head of appeals; a role he started in 2020, as the Suns withdrew their season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At home, Madewell is a loving husband to Jen and proud dad to two-year-old Brock. Madewell enjoys the big three major sports as an analyst and fan, with interests in the New York Yankees, New England Patriots, and Boston Celtics. He is a video game enthusiast, general sports aficionado, and amatuer comedian with his punny wordplay, laughable quips, and dad jokes.
